Mavericks Dance Hall operates two locations in the Austin suburbs - Buda to the south and Pflugerville to the north - and both are built specifically as dance halls. This is not a bar that happens to have a dance floor; this is a venue designed around the act of dancing to country music, and that intentionality shows in how the spaces are laid out and what they prioritize.
The crowds at Mavericks tend to be a mix of suburban Austin country fans and dedicated two-steppers who appreciate having a proper dance venue outside the congestion of Austin proper. The parking is easy, the floors are good, and the booking is consistent.
Two locations. Easy parking at both. Larger floors than most Austin venues. Built for dancing, full stop. When the city is packed on a Friday night, Mavericks is the smart move.
Buda is about 15 miles south of Austin, Pflugerville about 15 miles north. Both are worth knowing about as alternatives or additions to the core Austin honky-tonk circuit, especially on nights when the city venues are packed.

Both Mavericks locations have proper wooden dance floors built for two-stepping and line dancing. The floors are larger than most Austin venues, which means more room to cover ground and a cleaner counterclockwise traffic pattern when the crowd is dancing.
The style is Texas country two-step - the same tradition as the Austin honky-tonks but in a more purpose-built environment. Line dancing also happens at Mavericks, particularly earlier in the evening before the floor fills with couples.
