The School
Double or Nothing Two-Step
Double or Nothing Two-Step started in 2020 during the pandemic. A small group of avid dancers who couldn't go out, dancing at home because the honky-tonks were closed. We called them our Home-ky-Tonks. Those nights grew into something nobody expected: Austin's most popular two-step lessons, as named by the Austin Chronicle.
Today the team is Vanessa Vaught, Dalton Albus, Rachel Nayer, and Phillip Schulze. Together they cover 5 to 7 public classes a week plus studio series, private lessons, events, and parties across Austin and Central Texas. No partner needed. All levels welcome. The lessons are designed for real dancing on real Austin dance floors.
Current weekly social lessons: Tuesdays and Sundays at Sagebrush, Wednesdays at Donn's Depot, and additional nights throughout the week. Check the full schedule at DoubleOrNothingTwoStep.com.
Two-step in a honky-tonk was never meant to be a contest, and we're not about to turn it into one. You show up, you dance with someone you've never met, and you leave with a new friend and a song stuck in your head.
The Guide
How this schedule works
Where to Two-Step Austin started in 2021 as a way to help students find dancing opportunities, live music, and each other. It began as a hand-curated list posted on social media - venue by venue, band by band - and has since grown into this website covering 17+ venues across Austin and Central Texas.
The schedule is pulled together from venue websites, social media, and event listings across the web, filtered for what's actually worth going to if you want to two-step. Every entry is checked for accuracy before it goes up. The goal is simple: you shouldn't have to check 12 different websites to figure out where to go dancing tonight.

What this is about
Social dance, not a sport
Austin honky-tonk two-step is a social dance, not a sport. We don't run competitions. We don't judge. We don't hand out trophies or rank people against each other on a floor that's supposed to be about having a good time.
This community runs on three things: the music, the dancing, and the people you meet doing it. You show up, you learn a little, you dance with someone you've never met, and you leave with a new friend and a song stuck in your head. That's the whole thing. That's why we do it.
No brackets. No winners and losers. No ego at the door. Two-step in a honky-tonk was never meant to be a contest, and we're not about to turn it into one. Come dance.
