One of the oldest continuously standing dance halls in Texas, built in 1900 in the Swiss Alps community between Schulenburg and La Grange (about 70 miles east of Austin). 7,000 square feet of rectangular wood-framed hall with barn-like gabled roof and awning-style wooden flap windows. Has hosted Bob Wills, Willie Nelson, Johnny Winter, Asleep at the Wheel, B.J. Thomas, Roger Creager, Stoney LaRue. Sits on two acres with a separate Swiss Alp Grill cafe on site.
