About Jalopy Theatre + Jalopy Tavern
Tiny, vibey, the real deal. The Jalopy Theatre is a folk and roots music room opened by Geoff and Lynette Wiley in 2006, with church-pew seating that moves for square dancing, vintage instruments lining the walls, and a school of music attached. Next door, Jalopy Tavern runs live country and folk most nights (Tuesdays especially are a country pick) with enough room for swing dancing on the right night. Cajun, bluegrass, honky-tonk, gypsy jazz, son jarocho - the booking is anything that gets passed down generationally
Jalopy Theatre + Jalopy Tavern is part of the Where to Two-Step directory, a map and guide to honky-tonks, dance halls, and country dance venues across the country. For the night-by-night schedule of two-stepping in Austin, see the full Austin schedule.
