What to look for in a dancing boot
Before you shop: if you are buying boots specifically for dancing, the most important feature is the sole. A leather sole with a slight heel is ideal. It slides just enough to let you pivot and turn without fighting friction. A rubber sole - common on more casual or outdoor boots - will grip the floor and make every turn harder than it needs to be.
Fit matters too. Boots should feel snug through the heel (a slight slip is normal and actually correct) and comfortable through the toe box. Break them in before your first big night out - a few evenings around the house goes a long way.
